Afrikaans replaced het and de with "die". A lot less complicated. Now if only I can get my head around the double "nie": Ek kan dit nie verstaan nie...

Very useful. Small point: some of the English translations need editing, e.g. zich verstoppen: he hides (present tense); he hid (past tense); he has hidden (perfect tense). This is one of the many irregular verbs in English.
